Print, Woodcut on Paper, Colored, BALLOON ASCENSION NEAR HARBOR
Japanese woodcut print of balloon ascensions near a harbor. Left panel, one of three. This panel shows a carriage and a crowd in Western dress with two balloons aloft and ships on the water in the background. This is almost certainly a second scene (see A20140969000 through A20140971000) showing a different version of the balloon flights by T.S.C. Lowe and William Paullin in Philadelphia on July 14, 1860 for the visiting Japanese Embassy.
A20140976000 is the center panel of the scene, A20140977000 is the right panel.
