The Last Daylight Launch of a Manned Apollo 16, April 1972. A page from a spiral-bound sketchbook. The majority of the piece is a cloud-filled blue sky, and along the bottom is the green grassy shoreline. In perspective on the horizon is a tiny tower and the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) amid billowing smoke. Near the top of the piece is the Saturn rocket after launch, looking like a star with a yellow tail. Text in the bottom margin reads: "The last daylight launch of a manned Apollo Saturn V · Apollo 16 · 12:45 EST on 16 April 1972 · My vantage point at the press site · KSC."
