President Franklin D. Roosevelt awarded this Medal of Honor to Jimmy Doolittle for his role in the Doolittle Raid. It was the first American raid against Japan following the attack on Pearl Harbor. As an Air Force reservist, Jimmy Doolittle would achieve the rank of Lieutenant General. Highlighted in this image is a laurel wreath surrounding a five-pointed star, at the center of which is a bust of Minerva wearing a helmet.
