    Overall, cylindrical, with five F-1 rocket engines and their respective nozzles prortruding at rear; set of two only delta fins at base in between of which are flaring skirts atop the protruding five F-1 nozzles (two other, bottom delta fins, were not attached to this vehicle to facilitate its display on transporter); interstage adapter not added, with space between this and the second stage which affords visitors views of each side of this and other respective stages; Temporary Handling Structure or Ring, yellow, at forward end; stringers or corrugated construction around base of rocket, including fairings around outer F-1 engines and fins, conrrugated construction band around middle, and third corrugated band around forward end, before Temporary Handling Structure; overall, painted white, with black band around middle, series of broader black bands, horizontal, from base of rocket and intersecting middle black band; and alternating very broad black and white vertical bands around forward end corruagated band; the whole, mounted horizontally on multi-wheel transporter, painted NASA blue; all F-1 engines with coverings over injector plates and completely covering injector holes; some small bundles of wires attached at various points along left hand side of rocket and believed to be remains of pressure and other sensors when this stage was used for ground tests. The rear seat of the transporter is badly deteriorated, with much of the original plastic and foam seat gone; three tears in upper wall of left side of vehicle, looking from F-1 engines; badly deteriorated steel fitting or collar around llower left engine, rusted and partly torn off as per inspection of vehicle 1 March 2004 by NASM Curator Frank H. Winter; all F-1 engine engines with greenish hue indicating deterioration of copper content in engines.
