Watercolor painting on paper. Crane Hoisting the CM Boilerplate, December 14, 1972. The dark grey of the carrier deck and crane borders the scene on the left as silhouettes of men work to bring the command module (CM) boilerplate of Apollo 17 out of the ocean and onto the USS Ticonderoga. The boilerplate is white on top with an orange flotation collar around the base. Streams of white are the water pouring off of the structure. The sky is a mixture of blue and yellow, and overall there is little detail in the scene. Writing in the lower left corner reads: "Apollo 17 USS Ticonderoga."
