Thermal Blankets, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission, Outboard Support Structure
Thermal blanket sections with a variety of sizes, shapes, colors, and materials. Individually wrapped in static-shield mylar labeled with serial numbers and descriptions. Several segments are white beta cloth covered sections with several layers of fabric and aluminized synthetic materials, ending in perforated aluminized Kapton (according to data sheet included). Some segments have white velcro patches, and some have non-magnetic white metal wires attached. Other segments appear to be plastic sheet-lined black synthetic fiber fabric. Other segments appear to be spongy black foam (packing material?). All pieces are individually packed in static shield heat-sealed plastic bags, many remain sealed and labeled with adhesive tape with a white synthetic fiber fabric.
