Standard, H-1 type helmet, painted glossy white, with hand-painted cartoon of the cartoon character Wily E. Coyote (Warner Brothers) about to fly on a large skyrocket; on both sides of helmet are circular, hand-painted color logs of countries in which the Rocket Belt pilot and donor of this object, William A. "Bill" Suitor, performed his flights; countries include Italy, France, South Africa, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, and the U.S. Nylon chin strap with buckle; rubberized leather padding inside; foam strip around face opening, but part of it detached and requiring some repair; contains a 1 inch diameter black rubber disc on back with small hole in center of same, believed to be opening for standard communications wire for internal hookup to wearer's ears, but this helmet used without such devices due to extremely short (10 + second) durations of flights. This helmet was worn by William P. "Bill" Suitor when he served as a Rocket Belt pilot for Bell Aerosystems from March 1964 to June 1970. He made many flights, including flights on the Bell No. 2 Rocket Belt in the collections of the National Air and Space Museum.
