Drawing, Felt Tip Pen on Paper, ESCAPE TOWER ATOP MA-9
Felt tip pen drawing on paper. Escape Tower Atop MA-9, 5/15/63. The escape tower on top of Mercury Atlas 9, also called Faith 7, is a cylindrical form drawn in thick, bold strokes. The structure is vertical but at a slight diagonal, and the base in the lower right is rounded. Four technicians are drawn very loosely to the left of the tower, and a few simple strokes detail the background in the upper third of the scene. Writing in the lower left reads: "Escape tower atop MA-9. Cooper 22 orbit mission 5/15/63."
