Apollo 8 Coming Home. The cratered surface of the moon is the backdrop for Apollo 8 as it begins its journey home. One large circular crater is in the center, another large oblong crater in the upper left, and innumerable small craters dot the entire grey surface of the moon. The spacecraft is on a diagonal trajectory moving toward the upper right corner. A light blue arc is immediately behind the ship and a bright orange tail reaches almost to the lower left corner.
