This is an example of a World War II survival axe that were standard equipment for American multi-engine aircraft. The blade and hook ends provided aircrewman the ability to cut and tear aircraft aluminum.
This object is on display in World War II Aviation at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
