The data file clip was provided to attach handbooks and others reference items to the spacecraft interior to make them accessible during mission operations. It was spring loaded with a Velcro patch on one side for attachment to Velcro strips in the command module.

This clip was flown on Apollo 11 and was transferred to the Smithsonian in 1971.
