Skylab astronauts had several types of underwear. This style is the Constant Wear Garment, originally developed for Apollo astronauts to wear on voyages to the Moon. Made of comfortable soft cotton, it has front and back openings for toileting. It also has pockets for small devices to monitor radiation exposure. Astronaut Joe Kerwin wore a garment like this during his stay on the Skylab space station in 1973. NASA transferred some Skylab clothing to the Museum after the missions.
