Physical Description
Partially hand-colored etching of a large crowd of spectators gathered in front of the Palace of Versailles to watch the takeoff of the Montgolfier balloon carrying three animals aloft on September 19, 1783. The image and title at the top have been printed in reverse because the print is meant to be viewed through a zograscope. Title and description of scene on the bottom in French and German.
