This Inertisal Measurement Unit was installed on the Command Module of the Skylab 2 mission, which broought astronauts Charles Conrad, Jr., Joseph P. Kerwin, and Paul J. Weitz to the Skylab space station in May 1973 . The device measured accelerations and the position of the spacecraft. Data from it was used by the crew and by the on-board digital computer to control the spacecraft in maneuvers with the Skylab space station, and to ensure a safe return to Earth.
NASA transferred this object to the Museum in 1975.
