This central section of the Apollo Command Module Simulator instructor operator station (IOS) was used at Kennedy Space Center to direct simulation sessions for Apollo missions. It contains controls and displays the simulation supervisor could use to create almost any imaginable set of contingencies requiring real-time responses from the astronauts and support team.

Ownership of the station was transferred to the Smithsonian in 1975.
