The Iven C. Kincheloe Award was established in 1958 by the Society of Experimental Test Pilots to recognize outstanding professional accomplishment in the conduct of flight testing. It is awarded annually to a member of the society who has accomplished a significant feat within the year being awarded. The accomplishment must involve actual flight testing conducted by the individual and represent an outstanding contribution to an aerospace flight program while the recipient was acting as a test pilot.
The Iven C. Kincheleo Award itself embodies the Society's connection with the aerospace industry and its influence on the development of manned aerospace systems. The columns represent courage, integrity, knowledge and accomplishment, which help to make up the foundation upon which the Society is built.
