Blued steel Marlin M1917 machine gun with flat-sided receiver and main body, round, finned barrel with gas recoil tube under muzzle, receiver feed on proper left side with cartridge ejection port on right side; early M1917 lock container above rear end of barrel and later-style, L-shaped grip charging handle, with Birkigt synchronizer gear trigger motor, ring sight; mounted on left-hand side of SPAD XIII nose. 1918.
