This Apollo 14 commemorative medal was struck by the International Mint, an American company. Apollo 14 launched on January 31, 1971, and returned to Earth ten days later. Stuart Roosa, Alan Shepard, and Edgar Mitchell were the astronauts. It was the eighth human spaceflight and the third successful human lunar landing in the Apollo program.

Space medal collector Thomas Becker donated this medal to the National Collection in 1972.
