This Apollo 7 commemorative medal was designed by the Italian sculptor, Constantino Affer. The Apollo 7 mission was launched on October 11, 1968, and returned to earth nine days later. As the first human flight of the Apollo spacecraft, Apollo 7 remained in earth orbit during the entire mission. Walter Schirra, Jr., Donn Eisele, and Walter Cunningham were the three astronauts.

Space medal collector Thomas Becker donated this medal to the Museum in 1972.
