Bronze Pratt & Whitney Andrew Willgoos Laboratory Dedication commemorative medal; Obverse: relief of the Willgoos Laboratory depicted, embossed text "ANDREW WILLGOOS LABORATORY DEDICATION 1950"; Reverse: embossed text "ANDREW WILLGOOS TURBINE LABORATORY, ANDREW VAN DEAN WILLGOOS WAS CHIEF ENGINEER OF THE PRATT AND WHITNEY AIRCRAFT DIVISION DURING THE ENTIRE EXISTENCE OF THAT DIVISION AND ITS PREDECESSORS UNTIL HIS DEATH ON MARCH 1ST, 1949. EVERY PRATT AND WHITNEY ENGINE DEVELOPED DURING THOSE TWENTY-THREE YEARS BORE THE UNMISTAKABLE STAMP OF HIS GENIUS AS A DESIGNER. HIS WAS A LARGE PERSONAL SHARE IN THE CREATION OF THE AIRCRAFT POWER PLANTS WHICH CONTRIBUTED SO IMPORTANTLY TO VICTORY IN WORLD WAR II."
