This is a 1:15 scale model of the H-II rocket. The model, like the H-II rocket itself, was built by the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA), a predecessor organization of Japan's current space agency, JAXA.

When launched in 1994, the H-II became Japan’s first guided orbital launch vehicle to be developed using exclusively domestic technology. From 1994 to 1999, the H-II had five successful launches. The H-II was subsequently redesigned into the H-IIA, which entered service in 2001.

The H-II had liquid-fuel engines on both its first and second stages, along with two solid-fuel rocket boosters. It could carry a two-ton satellite to geostationary orbit.

NASDA built this model and donated it to NASM in 1991.
