Among the items issued to astronauts are velcro-backed name tags that can be attached to flight suits. This name tag is a spare for Shuttle astronaut Michael E. Lopez-Alegria, who was a mission specialist on the STS-73 (1995), STS-92 (2000) and STS-113 (2002) missions. He also commanded Expedition 14 on the International Space Station in 2006-2007. He completed a career record of ten spacewalks.
NASA transferred a number of spare astronaut name tags to the Museum over the years, including this one in 2002.
