Ceramic soup plate with a hand-painted scene of a balloon with sails aloft. A cannon is in the rear of the gondola, which is shown being fired. Gilded decorations around the central image. Banner with inscription above the image: "Expérience aérostatique par le Dr. Jonnatham, au village de Dessessebrugue, pays de galles le 22 Décembre 1783."
