Astronauts Jim Lovell and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin carried this shade with them during their November 1966 Gemini XII mission. If glare from the unfiltered sun in space was too strong, it could be attached to one of the spacecraft windows using Velcro.
This object is on display in Human Spaceflight at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
