Physical Description
Jim Leisy (b.1950 - d.2014) Jim Leisy is a Portland, Oregon based fine art photographer who has exhibited work both nationally and internationally, most recently in China. His work is in private collections and in the permanent collections of the Houston Museum of Fine Art and the Portland Art Museum. His photographs have appeared in the Oregonian, the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. Leisy is a founding member of the Photography Council of the Portland Art Museum and has served as its President and also was on Portland’s Photolucida board of directors from 2005 – 2008. Leisy’s “Solar Eclipse” shows a literal side of science in the collection that humanizes the awesome experience of viewing the eclipse with the naked eye. The photograph also sets a precedent for the photographic media of a digitally combined Van Dyke print, which bridges both 19th and 21st Century technologies.
