Marey was a 19th c. French physiologist whose studies of of movement began with tracing the circulation of blood and progressed to the function of muscles, and the motion and movement of the human body. He invented a number of devices and methods to graphically record of the body. He was also responsible for innovations in photography and and cinematography to record the movement of the body.
