This toothbrush is part of an oral hygiene kit designed for use by the astronauts during the Apollo missions, but was never flown or used. Oral hygiene was an important part of an astronaut's health and well being, and the kit was to contain toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss. Due to the difficulties associated with a weightless environment, toothpaste was created that could be swallowed.

Transferred to the National Air and Space Museum from NASA in 1984.
