Günther Rall is the world's leading living fighter ace with 275 official aerial combat victories. He joined the Luftwaffe in 1939 after transferring from the infantry. During World War II, Rall participated in most of the major air campaigns on all fronts. By the end of the war, he had flown 621 combat missions. When the West German Air Force was established in 1956, Rall was appointed as Major and responsible for the development of combat systems for the Fokker built German F-104G Starfighters assigned to NATO. He would hold many high ranking positions in the West German Air Force during his career. He retired in 1974 with the rank of Lieutenant General.
General Rall will sign copies of his book, Günther Rall: A Memoir, after the lecture. Copies of this book will be available for sale at this event by The National Air and Space Society. All net proceeds from the sale of this book support the National Air and Space Museum.
