To the thrill of large crowds below, Discovery made several passes over the Washington, DC area between 10:00 and 11:00 am on April 17 before landing safely at Washington-Dulles International Airport.

Discovery is now on permanent display in the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar at the Udvar-Hazy Center.

The Space Shuttle Discovery hitched a ride on NASA's modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft for the flight from the Dryden Flight Research Center in California, to Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on August 19, 2005.
