Gemini Maneuvering Unit

Gemini Maneuvering Unit

This is a training version of the Gemini IX-A maneuvering unit. It is the same size and weight as the one Gene Cernan intended to wear in space, although he never used it due to his exhaustion. Jet-powered backpacks were not used during spacewalks until Space Shuttle missions in 1984.
