    An astronaut aboard the International Space Station took this photograph of Chicago and the Lake Michigan shoreline. The dark areas between buildings are created by long shadows cast by tall buildings. Chicago’s center, known as “The Loop,” resides near the mouth of the Chicago River. Originally designed for shipping, the historic Navy Pier is now an entertainment center.
