Hurricane Joaquin from International Space Station

An astronaut aboard the International Space Station captured this image of Hurricane Joaquin on October 2, 2015. Taken at night, it reveals Florida’s city lights in the distance.

Joaquin is the third hurricane of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season. On October 2 it battered the central Bahama Islands as a Category 4 hurricane. Two days later it lashed out at Bermuda as a Category 2 hurricane, before heading to the northeast.
