Sample from a Hidden Area on 'Enterprise'

A cross section, or microscopic sample of paint, taken from the saucer of the Star Trek starship Enterprise studio model in an area that was hidden by the bolt cover. The image, photographed under a microscope at 200x magnification, reveals the model's original color from the first pilot episode. The bottom layer is wood, the white middle layer is a coarse primer layer (basecoat), and the final top layer is the original grey.
