This video shows Edward White as he became the first American, and second person, to walk in space on June 3, 1965. He spent over 20 minutes outside his Gemini IV spacecraft, while James McDivitt photographed him through the hatch window. White enjoyed his spacewalk so thoroughly he had to be told several times to return to his spacecraft. At the completion of his spacewalk, White said, "This is the saddest moment of my life."
