U.S. Marine Corps. pilot Captain Arthur H. Page sitting in the Curtiss XF6C-6 Page Racer on August 18, 1930. The aircraft featured a Curtiss Conqueror V-1570 racing engine, the last of the Curtiss liquid-cooled engines. On September 1, 1930, Captain Page flew the aircraft in the Thompson Trophy Air Race at the National Air Races in Chicago. While leading the field, the aircraft lost power, and Page died during the resulting forced landing.
