    This humorous drawing by Grandjouan from "L'Assiette au Beurre" depicts an American "Uncle Sam" figure holding up a Wright Type A biplane model to a French official. The caption reads:

    "--Pour l'honneur de la France, ça vaut bien 5.000 de plus. Ce n'est pas l'Allemagne qui marchanderait, monsieur le Ministre!..."

    ["For the sake of France’s honor, it's well worth 5,000 and more. It’s not Germany that you'd be bargaining with, Mister Minister!..."]
