• Chinese Cicada Kite

    One of two Chinese kites that were the first aeronautical objects to enter the Smithsonian collections.  This cicada kite was one of a group presented to the Smithsonian by the Imperial Chinese Commission to the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876.
