    The Beech Staggerwing was built for business travel, but Staggerwings also set speed recordsand won many races. The Hughes H-1 below it was designed to be the world's fastest landplane. No detail was overlooked in the effort to make it as sleek as possible - not even the screwdriver slots on the engine cowling, which were aligned with the airflow to reduce drag.
