Udvar-Hazy Center north hangar doors are in place

The north hangar overhead doors are in place. You may have overhead doors in your garage, but this door is in two 73.8-foot-wide sections, and each section is 39.4 feet high. The small door inside the left big door will allow trucks to enter without a blast of cold winter or hot summer air. The overhead door design was developed in the late 1930s for airfields where space for horizontal sliding doors was not available.
