During a helicopter flight that recreated a 1921 air mail route over Pennsylvania, left to right: Tom Pumpelly at the controls, guide Bob Hines, and Museum educator Tim Grove in the back (covering their microphones because of the wind). Using the 1921 pilots’ directions and sketch, the helicopter flew along the airmail route while photographer Eric Long took photos of landmarks along the way. The photos will be used in the America by Air exhibition.
