Col. Joseph Kittinger artifacts - Trophy Award 2008

Kittinger wore this flight jacket and scarf on the first solo balloon flight across the Atlantic Ocean. He covered a distance of 3,700 miles, flying from Maine to a landing near Savoia, Italy, September 15–18, 1984. He wore this hunting cap on each of his high-altitude balloon flights. They are on display in the Trophy 2008 case at the National Air and Space Museum Mall building.
