Museum specialists had a challenge on the snowy day in February when they moved this 1954 Piper Apache into the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The airplane was towed over the back road from the Museum's restoration barn at Washington-Dulles International Airport, a distance of about a quarter mile. The move began during a slight flurry of snow, which unexpectedly built in intensity. Here, employees brush off the snow before moving the diminutive aircraft through the doors into the Center, where it was quickly dried and placed safely on display.
