This image of the Sun's chromosphere was taken with a hydrogen-alpha telescope at 1:32 pm EDT on Friday, April 15.
This image shows a high energy solar flare near the end of its life. The flare itself occurred at approximately 1:05 pm EDT, and the hydrogen-alpha telescope could detect its sustained brightness for about 20 minutes after the event.
