Kelly Harro is a Coordinator for the Museum’s celebrated Explainers Program. She is one of a trio of staff that oversee nearly 100 high school and college students who bring the Museum’s STEM concepts to life through hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations. Kelly and her team members support as well as supervise these emerging professionals, providing professional development opportunities in addition to pedagogical and content-area training.
Kelly earned a BA in History & English and a Graduate Certification in Secondary Education from Michigan State University. She began her career as an educator in the classroom, teaching high school English, before returning to academia to earn a MA in Museum Studies from The George Washington University. Kelly served as Community Engagement Manager at the Georgetown historic site, Dumbarton House, before joining the Museum's education team in 2019.
