Explainers Program Coordinator

Bio

Melissa Fregeau is one of the coordinators behind the museum's highly acclaimed Explainers Program. Alongside her dynamic team, she oversees a brigade of nearly 100 high school and college students who bring STEM concepts to life through engaging, hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations. As a coordinator, Melissa not only supervises and supports her team, but also trains them to become skilled educators, able to captivate audiences of all backgrounds.

Melissa has a BA in History and an MA in Secondary Education from Lewis University. She began her career as a museum educator at Naper Settlement, near Chicago, where she even had the opportunity to work as a 19th century blacksmith! Melissa is always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to engage the public and make learning fun.
