?»?Albert F. Wilcox was born May 1, 1926 in Douglas, Georgia.
After serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII he studied mechanical engineering at Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, graduating in 1950.
He subsequently joined General Electric Co. in Fort Wayne, where he spent his career until he retired in 1976.
His contributions to General Electric Co. were numerous and significant. He holds or is responsible for numerous patents enabling increased efficiency and innovative manufacturing process techniques, as well as for designing and building complex manufacturing automation machinery for motors, industrial transformers, and other commercial products during his career at General Electric Co.
Aside from his career pursuits, Al has always been a serious aviator. He considers earning a private pilot?€™s license, and later an instrument rating, among his most significant accomplishments.
A long time member of the ?€?Quiet Birdmen?€? organization, he was a Beechcraft Bonanza pilot and owner for many years, flying all over the United States and Mexico.
Having relinquished the ?€?heavy iron?€? of the Beechcraft, Al is now building his first airplane ?€“ a Sonex kit ?€“ in the garage at his home in Dowling Park, Florida. He eagerly looks forward to getting it ready to fly.
