Bec was a pioneer in data communications and information technology. (He updated Shannon's Theory to include bandwidth and coding.)
He taught graduate level classes in communications and computer science. He headed up "Technical Planning and Support" groups in: aerospace, government, and financial companies. (He has also been active as a communication consultant and marketing manager for "special" communication systems.)
