    Bernie Turcovsky started his illustrious love of aviation in the Early 1940's at age 11. Taking bike trips to the Allegheny Airport near Pittsburgh, he'd watch the planes take off and land.
    Important Dates:
    *1956 flying lessons at Butler County Airport then moved to Culmerville Airport for a better
    opportunity to build up flight time. *1958, flying license was obtained *May, 1964 went in with Bill Gardner to purchase, a Piper J-3 for $900 from Culmerville
    Airport owner, Fred Eiler. *1965, the J-3 was recovered by PI A and an agreement was made with neighbor
    Matt Hawkins to lease a section of farmland to use as an airstrip. A lean-to hanger was built. *1967, sole ownership of the J-3 was obtained.
    Notable Cross Country Trips:
    1975 Dr. Joseph Bather's J-3 was flown and delivered to Arizona using VFR.
    The Outer Banks, Sun and Fun in Florida, and Soo Ste. Marie.
    Other Highlights:
    *Recovered entire plane, installed wing tank, skis, lights, generator, and radio.
    *Designed portable bicycle and harness to carry bike on the plane's wings for ground mobility.
    *Built a 40'x 40' hanger in late 1990's to replace lean-to model.
    * Active in the Young Eagles Program, in order to share his love of aviation to future generations.
