Born in 1912; died in 1980.
Mr Sherman had his first solo flight in 1931 at the age of 19. He flew Wacos, Kitty Hawks, and other airplanes. He gave up flying after marrying and having children. He took up flying again in the early 1960s and was an instructor almost until his death.
