Mr. Baggelaar was received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award for his 50 years in aviation mechanics in September 2015. During his time in commercial aviation he has worked for such carriers as American Airlines, US Airways, American West, Muse Air/Tristar, Hughes West Airlines, Flying Tigers, New York Airways, Pan American and Pacific Southwest Airlines. Additionally, he served as a helicopter mechanic at Briles Wing and Helicopter and Sikorsky Aircraft. For a short period of time, he work with Pacific Airmotive.

Mr. Baggelaar indicates some of his fondest memories of his time in the aviation industry are:
1) The technological evolution from cable and hydraulic opertion to the "fly-by-wire" technology;

2) The advent of carbon fiber aircraft such as the Boeing 787; and

3) Being able to serve as a mentor to so many young mechanics , especially the sons of many of the men that he worked with in the early stages of his career.
